Our Journey
Beginning in the 1970s, TechRentals laid its foundations in electronic service before quickly expanding into test and measurement rentals as new offices opened across Australia. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, we expanded our regional presence with new operations in New Zealand, Malaysia, and Singapore, while introducing specialist divisions in communications, business equipment, and calibration - significantly strengthening our capabilities and service offering. Over 50 years, this steady momentum has shaped TechRentals into a trusted technology rental provider across the Asia‑Pacific, supporting customers with reliable equipment solutions and technical expertise.
Ownership
In 2016, our long‑standing legacy in technology and equipment rental reached a new chapter when TechRentals was acquired by Vp plc, a global leader in specialist rental services founded in 1954.
Vp plc operates ten well‑established divisions - UK Forks, CPH, ESS, Groundforce, Airpac Rentals, Brandon Hire Station, Torrent Trackside, MEP Hire, and TPA -serving key sectors including construction, civil engineering, rail, water, oil and gas, outdoor events, and housebuilding. With deep expertise in asset management and operations spanning the UK, Ireland, mainland Europe, and a worldwide network supporting oil and gas markets, Vp plc’s backing continues to strengthen TechRentals’ ability to deliver high‑quality, dependable rental solutions across the Asia‑Pacific region.
New Branded Identity
In 2024, TechRentals launched a new branded identity, marking a strategic milestone in our evolution. This move unified several long-standing business units under the TechRentals name, creating a single, cohesive brand that reflects our broad capabilities and customer-first approach.
TechRentals' new brand identity has brought together:
- Test & Measurement - Previously a standalone offering, our Test & Measurement business unit is now fully integrated into TechRentals. We provide access to a wide range of test equipment from leading global manufacturers, electrical, environmental, NDT, and industrial applications, while expanding our focus on comprehensive energy solutions.
- Communications and Safety - Formally TR Hirecom, this business unit specialises in two-way radio hire and safety equipment solutions. With a strong presence in mining, construction, and emergency services, it continues to deliver rugged, dependable technology for high-demand environments.
- Calibration - Formally TR Calibration, this business unit this business unit now operates under the TechRentals brand. Focused on delivering complete asset management solutions, TechRentals Calibration works with high-end contract customers, providing trusted expertise, compliance assurance, and seamless management of critical assets.
